In June 2010, Gavin Andresen launched a website giving away 5 BTC per visitor to help people try Bitcoin. He initially funded it with 1,100 BTC. The original faucet distributed donated BTC to newcomers. FAUCET uses a 3% holder-reward fee to distribute BTC to holders.

The name, the history, and the pumpfun holder reward mechanism fit perfectly together: a Bitcoin faucet that keeps rewards flowing back to its community.
