Putting together the whitepaper, public documentation, the PoC/on-chain activity we analyzed, and the additional information shared in the AMA, this is how I would summarize Nullmask:
Nullmask is trying to make privacy a transparent layer on top of the wallet you already use. Instead of forcing users to create a dedicated privacy wallet, it is designed to work with MetaMask and other EIP-1559-compatible wallets, including hardware wallets. Under the hood, it uses a UTXO-based privacy pool, Poseidon2 commitments, Merkle proofs, client-side ZK proofs and relayers. The documentation already describes deposits, private transfers, withdrawals, ERC-20 support and private swaps.
The biggest differentiator is probably the UX. The idea is basically “your wallet, but private.” No separate seed phrase or dedicated privacy account. You configure the Nullmask network in your existing wallet and the privacy infrastructure works underneath.
Compared with Tornado Cash Nova, Nullmask is aiming for something closer to a usable private network rather than simply interacting with a privacy pool. Nova can involve considerably more friction around RPCs, relayers and the overall shield/unshield experience.
Compared with RAILGUN/Railway, the architectural goal is to remove another layer of friction. RAILGUN already has a mature ZK privacy ecosystem, but Nullmask wants your normal EVM wallet itself to become the interface to that private environment.
I wouldn’t claim Nullmask is already objectively better than RAILGUN in production because RAILGUN is significantly more mature. However, if Nullmask delivers its architecture as intended, the wallet integration and UX could be a major advantage.
